Peeling the Banana
It's 7:00 pm and I'm still waiting for UPS to deliver the last parts I need to button up my engine. I work the next four days, so I guess I'll do that next weekend.Meanwhile, while I was waiting around all day, I started stripping the car from the front. Basically I'm peeling it back like a banana front to back. This is all in preparation to pull the engine and transmission as well as the wiring harness conversion/reduction.
I finally got my next batch of parts ordered. Rear main seal, flywheel, header, and a few other things.
Valve Train Buttoned Up
I closed up the top end of the swap engine. I know, no big deal, but it has that sweet semi-complete smell aahhh.....I painted the valve cover letters red with caliper paint and an artist brush. To be honest, it looks shitty up close, It looks fairly OK from a few feet back.More wiring strip back
I finished pulling the wares back on the driver side, It actually turned out to be easier than I was expecting. Now, sorting through them will be another story.Wiring Harness Out!
The front end wiring harness is completely out of the car. I've got it spread out in the basement with the 01 engine harness ready to work when it turns a bit colder.Ready to pull the engine and transmission
I've got the transmission and engine completely ready to pull except for the engine mount bolts. I'm hoping to get it out maybe drop the differential tomorrow. Meanwhile the new Fidanza flywheel is mounted. I'm working on detailing out the new engine when I'm tired of laying under the car. I really need a set of taller jack stands.the flywheel looks awesome. I hate the idea of covering it up.
I toyed with the idea of deleting my intake brake. I know a lot of people have, but I'm worried about vibration. I hate working around the damn thing. I decided to cut it way down and keep it.
